SM UK today announce the appointment of Dave Wilman as their new Managing Director.
With immediate effect Dave Wilman will take full responsibility for the continued leadership and development of SMUK, playing a key role in taking the company forward into its next phase.
With over 20 years in the industry, Mr Wilman has a proven track record for delivering growth and excellence in driving fleet safety.
Initially starting his career at SMUK as an engineer, Dave aspired to Operations Director in 2018, enabling him to build a deep and formidable skillset which he has used to help shape SMUK into the business it is today.
Commenting on the appointment, founder Steve MacDonald said: “I’m absolutely delighted to make this appointment and step down from the role, allowing me to focus on other projects.
Since joining SMUK in 2000, Dave has delivered consistent growth and demonstrated strong leadership skills whilst increasing operational efficiency across all areas of the business including Tamworth and of late the transition to a 40,000sq ft new HQ in Leeds as well as our latest acquisition in Dartford in his previous role as Operations Director. “It therefore felt like a natural progression to hand the day to day running of the business over to such an experienced individual and I’m excited to give Dave the freedom to execute his vision for the next phase in SMUK’s development.” So says Steve.
Dave Willman added: “I am honoured to have been given the opportunity to shape the future of a business, I care deeply about. I am incredibly proud of what our team has achieved over the past few years – a large part of our success is that we are not afraid to do things our own way and will continue to do so. Steve has always said that he doesn’t just want SMUK to be big, he wants it to be great, a statement that resonates with me and I wholeheartedly agree with.”
Moving forward, Steve MacDonald will take up the role of Chairman with a view to exploring new products and fresh ideas that will support the ongoing growth and direction of SMUK.
