SMUK have taken into account our carbon footprint and have highlighted the emissions we can immediately reduce with a view to offsetting those that are likely to reduce over the next few years.
The move to our new Leeds workshop has meant SMUK will reduce our carbon emissions with LED lighting and solar panels used to generate electricity.
Further efforts have been made through the replacement of fossil fuel cars with electric vehicles for the sales team.
It is also expected that the miles driven will also reduce as the workshop and head office will amalgamate under one roof.
Working with our strategic racking partner Sortimo, who supply local companies with racking as part of their van conversion or turn-key solution. By using SMUK to fit the racking they are helping reduce the number of miles they need to travel in order to have their vans converted.
As auto-electrical experts specialising in commercial vehicles, Carbon Neutral Britain identified SMUK’s main emissions were from owned/ leased vehicles and the mileage completed with the reporting period, SMUK are committed to replacing all company vehicles as their lease agreements end with electric vehicles.

S Macdonald Commercial Services Limited opens for business.
12th February 2006
SM UK takes on first auto electrical engineers and opens first office.
28th March 2007
SM UK adds another engineer to the team.
11th April 2008
By April 2008, SM UK has 10 auto electrical engineers.
1st October 2009
SM UK opens for second first office with warehouse.
SM UK open their first office with warehouse in Bramley in April. By October they took on an admin & bookings team as well as their engineering team reaching 13 members.
30th May 2010
SM UK moves to larger office to supply demand.
Larger office opens in Kirkstall due to increase in operations with 17 engineers now working for SM UK.
2nd February 2012
SM UK Kirkstall office redesigned.
Engineering team has expanded to 22 members and Kirkstall office is redesigned to help hold much larger stock quantities.
11th November 2013
SM UK move to Unit 18 and hire their first salesperson.
11th June 2014
SM UK start an apprenticeship program and employ a second salesperson.
21st January 2016
SM UK hire a third salesperson and engineering team grows to 30 members.
19th May 2017
SM UK purchases unit 18 for in house training.
SM UK Purchase Unit 13 which still remains their primary office alongside purchasing Unit 18 to use as an in house training centre. Sales team now grows to 4 members.
21st March 2018
SM UK open their first workshop in Gildorsome, Leeds.
1st September 2019
SM UK open second workshop in Tamworth, Midlands.
31st December 2020
SM UK expand their services to cater for Welfare Vehicles.
