HGV Autonomous Braking System
Reversing incidents are among the most preventable and costly accidents in fleet operations. Our autonomous braking system is designed for on-highway vehicles including refuse trucks, road sweepers, and municipal fleet, providing automatic intervention when a driver fails to respond to a hazard. When an object is detected in the danger zone and the audible warning goes unheeded, the system applies the brakes automatically – protecting vulnerable road users, your drivers, and your vehicles.
Trusted by fleet operators and local authorities to reduce risk, lower repair costs and save lives.
- Protects vulnerable road users and pedestrians
- Fits the majority of on-highway vehicles
- Three-zone detection – fully customisable to your operation
- Prevents costly collision damage and downtime
- Ideal for refuse vehicles, road sweepers and municipal fleet
Product Features
Three-zone hazard detection
The detection area is divided into outer, intermediate, and inner zones. Audible and visual alerts activate progressively as an object approaches - if the two outer zones are ignored, the inner zone triggers automatic brake application.
FMCW radar technology
Market-leading frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar delivers an unrivalled level of hazard detection, with built-in direction and distance sensing to minimise false alerts in demanding environments.
Fully customisable parameters
Detection zones and alert thresholds are adjustable to suit specific vehicle applications and working environments - including an override sequence for operating safely within confined spaces.
Brake event monitoring
Each automatic brake activation is logged via the Brake Logic Box, giving fleet managers a reviewable record of system events to support compliance and incident investigations.
FAQs
We’ve answered some of your most frequently asked questions. Don’t find what your looking for? Don’t hesitate to get in touch with a member of our team for expert advise.
How does the system apply the brakes without causing a jolt?
The system activates progressively through three detection zones before applying the brakes, giving the driver multiple opportunities to respond. Brake application is controlled to avoid sudden stops that could damage the drivetrain.
Can it be configured for our specific vehicles?
Yes. Detection zones and sensitivity parameters are fully adjustable, and the system includes an override mode for confined-area manoeuvring. It’s designed to fit the majority of on-highway vehicles.
Does the system work for forward detection as well as reversing?
Yes – it can be installed for both forward and reversing detection depending on your operational requirements.
How are brake events recorded?
Automatic brake activations are logged through the Brake Logic Box, giving you an auditable record for fleet management, compliance, and incident review purposes.
