Compliance & Safety Manager

Job Description

Established in 2000, SM UK, are an auto-electrical engineering and van conversion company specialising in commercial vehicle safety systems and vehicle full turn-key solutions.

Operating nationwide and dealing with some of the largest fleets in the country whilst providing optimum solutions and a seamless service tailored to meet the exact requirements of our clients. We pride ourselves on our strong compliance culture and aim to uphold the highest ethical and regulatory standards across all aspects of our operations.

We are currently seeking a talented Compliance & Safety Manager to undertake the Company’s QHSE and Compliance activities.  This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the success of our business and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Working closely with all departments, you will manage all compliance and health & safety across the company, embedding and promoting a positive and compliant safety culture.

You will manage the implementation of business standards and operational procedures and provide health and safety support and guidance on compliance matters.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • •  Manage the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • •  Manage in the continued maintenance of ISO 9001 certification, Safe Contractor and Avetta, Type Approval and Supplier / Customer Partnership requirements.
  • •  Conduct regular internal audits to assess compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements and report findings.
  • •  Monitor changes in applicable laws and regulations, providing timely updates and recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • •  Manage and develop QHSE Policies and Procedures in line with legal requirements.
  • •  Responsibility for completing Supplier Questionnaires.
  • •  Involvement in Tenders from a Compliance and QHSE perspective.
  • •  Manage the assessment, monitoring, measuring, and recommendations associated with QHSE improvement initiatives.
  • •  Collaborate with operations and internal departments to develop and implement compliance initiatives.
  • •  Manage and support training and awareness programs on compliance-related topics, ensuring employees are well-informed and educated.
  • •  Investigate and respond to compliance-related inquiries and incidents, working closely with internal stakeholders and external authorities when necessary.
  • •  Maintain accurate records and documentation of compliance activities, reports, and findings.

Requirements:

  • •  Experience in the motor vehicle environment would be an advantage but not essential
  • •  Experience of working in a regulated industry preferred
  • •  A passion for quality
  • •  Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • •  Strong IT skills
  • •  Ability to solve problems and execute solutions to problems / issues identified
  • •  An ability to build strong working relationships
  • •  Self-motivated and able to plan and manage own workload
  • •  At least one year experience in QHSE / Compliance management
  • •  Recognised Health & Safety Qualification
  • •  Have knowledge of ISO9001 and Health and Safety regulations and be able to audit against this standard

Business Development Manager (Midlands)

SMUK is seeking an experienced business development manager to build relationships with fleet operators, manage the sales process from lead generation to project delivery, and grow revenue within the HGV safety equipment/fleet technology sector.

Job Description

SMUK has been an evolving business seeing expansive growth in its 25 years of operation. With continued plans for growth, we are looking to add experienced and knowledgeable business development managers to our Sales Operation.

Reporting into the Sales Director you will be responsible for forging relationships with leading Fleet operators within your specified area. You will have a good working knowledge of the fleet industry in particular HGV vehicles and have worked in the safety equipment of fleet technology sector previously.

You will be responsible for:

  • –  Sourcing new opportunities
  • –  Setting up, attending and documenting customer meetings offering a consultative approach to their needs and requirements
  • –  Producing and management of customer quotes and orders
  • –  Working with the project team to manage customer build programmes
  • –  Controlling and managing your CRM database
  • –  Performing in line with set targets and objectives
  • –  Attending monthly internal sales meetings
  • –  Attending trade shows and other industry related events
  • –  Administrative tasks

This role is well suited to a driven and performance motivated individual who has a consultative and engaging approach to sales. You will already have a proven track record in the industry and be looking to join a progressive business that offers good prospects.

The role will involve travel across the country, as well as regular presence in one of our office operations.

Van Sales Executive

SM UK are the UK’s No1 Auto Electrical and Van Conversion company offering a Nationwide service with sites in Leeds, Tamworth and Dartford.

Job Description

Our business’s unique selling point lies in offering Turn-Key solutions for our customers’ on-the-go needs. We source and provide fully converted vans that are ready to hit the road, equipped with a comprehensive range of features and services, including bespoke racking solutions, on-board power systems and charging, warning lighting, strobes, beacons, work lights, camera systems and safety features, welfare conversions, crewcabs and bespoke mobile workspaces.  We can also provide our van conversion service to customers who already have their own vehicles or fleet.

Due to our continued progressive growth and further expansion into our new purpose-built Head Office and workshop facility in Leeds we are now looking to recruit a Van Sales Executive to join our Van Division Team to focus on increasing our commercial van sales, van conversion sales and workshop volume.

We are looking for a highly proactive, enthusiastic and target driven person who can confidently communicate at all levels.  You will be motivated and ambitious and want to be part of our expanding team with a desire to increase your knowledge and experience to further develop your future career with us.

You will ideally have experience within the automotive industry or working in a similar setting.  Drawing on your sales experience you will be responsible for developing and identifying your contacts to build a database of leads and a pipeline of potential business throughout the UK.

You will possess excellent communication and customer service skills and strive to provide the best possible customer solution for every opportunity, generating and building long standing working relationships with new and existing clients and strategic partners.

Working with our existing Van Team, you will be supported by a strong focused marketing function, our in-house design engineer and a wealth of industry knowledge from our coach builders and existing management team.

Your duties will include, but not limited to the following:

  • –  Meeting and exceeding sales targets, with uncapped commission potential
  • –  UK wide lead generation and networking
  • –  Building a database of quality leads / pipeline throughout the UK
  • –  Quotation creation and proactive follow-ups
  • –  Account / customer relationship management
  • –  Providing an exceptional customer experience
  • –  Following internal procedures when processing orders
  • –  Liaising effectively with internal departments to provide seamless customer service.
